The Library Project was a multi-part, participatory project that investigated the Library for Art & Textile at University of Cologne. Through collaborative formats of research and intervention, the space was questioned, re-opened and partially redesigned together with students (as users) and staff (as those responsible).
As initiators and artistic directors of the project, Mareen Müller and Elias Müller led an open programme (including the textile-based workshop von textilen Text(ur)en und ihren Spuren with artist Anne Marx, an evening for lecture performances and a workshop on making publications for the library) in December 2024. Until January 2025, we finished the project within the durational performance Working the Library, during which different spatial interventions were created, including a text-based floor work in front of the library, the live video installation Die vierte Wand der Bibliothek einreißen and the participatory installation there is a bib so we are making a book. The latter resulted in a printed publication. Afterwords, the whole project was presented within an exhibition at the Laboratory for Art & Research (Cologne).
